Abstract

The low spirit and consistency of students in memorizing the Qur'an have become the main challenges in many islamic boarding schools, including Pondok Pesantren Al-Munawwir Komplek L, Krapyak, Yogyakarta. This condition can hinder the success of the student's memorization and impact their character formation. This study aims to analyze the implementation of the Qur'an riyadah tradition in Komplek L, as well as its impact on the character formation of the students. This research uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach.The object of the research is the tradition of Qur'an riyadah at Pondok Pesantren Al-Munawwir Komplek L, while the subject the El-Huffadz administrators and the students. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation. The research results show that Qur'anic riyadah is a systematic effort involves getting student into  the habit of reading the Qur'an several times, with a target of ten complections in six months. The form of riyadah includes reading after Maghrib and Fajr, as well as supervision through progress cards and periodic evaluations. This tradition not only helps students maintain their memorization of the Qur'an but also encourages the formation of Qur'anic character, such as discipline, patience and commitment to Islamic values.
